- 2005 - 2007: Expert consultant for Constructing Arabic Wordnet in Parallel with an Ontology: This project aims at the development of wordnets for the Arabic languages and is sponsored by the American government and headed by Princeton University. Vossen will be responsible for the European development and coordination.

- April 1998: Referent for the IFOTT research school for appointing new PhD students.
- November 1997 - July 1999: Member of the Ansi-committee on Ontology Standards. The aim of this group was to develop a world-wide standard for Ontologies and to provide the upper-level as a public Reference Ontology (c.a. 3,000 concepts).
- May 1997 - September 1999: Member of the Eagles Lexicon Interest Group. In this group we were developing Standards for encoding Lexical Semantic Information for Natural Language Processing products. Co-editor of the Preliminary Recommendations on Semantic Encodingh (report).
- May 1996 -February 1998: Coordinator of the Dutch-Functional Grammar group in which a group of linguists from the research school IFOTT (now called ACLC), were developing a discourse grammar for Dutch based on Functional Grammar.
- April 1996: Referent for the IFOTT research school for appointing new PhD students.
- 1993 August - 1995: Expert-consultant in the area of language and information-engineering for the EU (PB/EG nr. C24/10, 28193).
- June 1992 - September 1994: Freelance consultant for Cambridge University Press and Van Dale Lexicography to set up lexical semantic databases.
- January 1990 - April 1994: Member of LIKE (Linguistic Instruments in Knowledge Engineering), which was a research group studying information systems based on Linguistic modules and programs. LIKE had regular meetings, workshops and presentations.
